Who doesn’t love a tufted or upholstered headboard? They make such a statement and can really make a room amazing. I have found great tufted and/or upholstered headboards in many styles. Some are elegant and some are a little more edgy and cool. The tufted headboard is not tied to just one design esthetic, that’s for sure! The variety available is endless. I wanted to feature some of my favorite tufted/upholstered headboards in preparation for the teen glamour bedroom makeover I will soon be revealing that may or may not include a tufted headboard. Here are some of my favorites floating around the internet!
- World Market Midnight Blue Upholstered Headboard
I love how Emily Henderson styled this guest bedroom using the Textured Woven Bryn Upholstered Bed from World Market. It’s simple but regal. The simplicity of this headboard allows for a rug with a lot of pattern. They balance each other out. This is also a great headboard if you’re into the upholstered look but not necessarily in love with the tufted with buttons look.
2. Anthropologie Velvet Tufted Headboard
There is nothing quite like a velvet tufted headboard. This one from Anthropologie comes in eleven different colors. That’s right… eleven. So I’m pretty sure they will have the color you want. This pale blue-gray color above is unique and interesting while remaining neutral and calming.
3. Roma Tufted Wingback Headboard from Target
This headboard from Target is a lovely neutral option. It’s available in 4 different colors and one of the things that really drew me to this headboard was the great price point! It’s very affordable at just under $300 for a queen size. Which isn’t bad at all. Tufted headboards don’t have to be pricey and places like Target have some great options!
4. Brady’s DIY Channel Tufted Headboard
Stop. Just stop. AHHHH this headboard is EVERYTHING! The color, the horizontal layers, the way it extends beyond the bed…. I fell in love with this the moment I saw it. And great news… it’s a DIY project which is always my favorite because you have at least some control over how expensive you will make your version. I am absolutely convinced that I will make this headboard at some point. I’m really considering making it for Nash when he is in a big boy bed. Maybe a twin bed version of this??? You can find the tutorial on how to make this amazing headboard here. Brady is a member of Emily Henderson’s design team and they are amazing.
5. West Elm Nail Head Patterned Headboard
This headboard from West Elm is really unique with the nail head design. I think they only have a twin size left and it’s in a lighter color… on sale for $199. But the thing I really wanted to point out is that this would be a great DIY headboard to build. It would not be hard at all to use upholstery nail heads to make a pattern like this (or any pattern you desire).
Well, that’s my little roundup of 5 great upholstered headboards. I can’t wait to reveal Liberty’s bedroom because her tufted headboard is actually different from all of these. But I love it just as well (or more) than many of these. I hope this inspires you to consider buying or building your own tufted headboard. While they aren’t the only great style of headboard, they are definitely a lot of fun and really add to a space. Check out the design plan for Liberty’s room here, and stay tuned for her bedroom reveal!
